Richard Splaine

Richard (Rick) Splaine is a Certified Fire Investigator and partner at Splaine and Freitas Fire Investigations.

Rick was a member of the Boston Fire department for over 30 years and served on some of the busiest companies in the city. In 1982 he joined the Fire Investigation Unit where he was assigned to the major case unit. At the urging of a major insurance company claims manager, Rick was encourage to start his own business in 1990, and in 2008 brought on Edwin Freitas as a partner in the firm.

Richard Splaine has become one of the most trusted experts in the industry through decades of experience and a commitment lifelong learning and education in his field. During his career with the Boston Fire Investigation Unite he attended many fire investigation schools, including the National Fire Academy, ATF fire investigation course, state police academy and professional fire seminars. Rick has been chosen by various organizations to speak and teach fire investigation at seminars for the National Fire Academy, State Criminal Justice Program, insurance seminars and the National Association of Arson Investigators.

Ricks qualifications include his fire investigation training, his electrical background and his extensive experience both in the public and private sector. Rick has also testified and been disposed in hundreds of arson and civil insurance cases. He has been certified as an expert witness as a fire investigator and an electrical expert in all related cases and has never been denied being granted expert witness status by judges in federal and numerous state superior courts.
